I decided to create a new blog site as part of my return to film as my medium of choice. The images included on this site were all shot using analog technology. The images are as they were captured. There are no fancy Photoshop techniques or Lightroom presets applied to the images. If you prefer natural images that beautifully and faithfully record a moment, take a look around.

I'm a little late for Mardi Gras, but here is a shot of us in New Orleans. We were there for a photography convention.....not, Mardi Gras. It was taken by the awesome Haley Sheffield.

***NERD ALERT***

I've been playing around with my new toy. The Mamiya RZ is quite versatile. You can shoot 6x7, 6x6, 6x4.5 and Polaroids with it just by changing the film back. That said, it is a beast.

I got a super cheap Polaroid back that had a light leak. Thankfully, I have a colletion of broken Polaroid backs, so I hacked together a good back for the RZ. During all of this hacking, I must of exposed the film. Here is the result. I love the serendipity of film.

I was playing with my new toy while my wife and baby and cat played. There must have been something very interesting out the window.

Shooting a baby with a munual focus camera is a trick.

There have been a variety of stories in the news about the demise of Kodak. It even seems some take joy in it. Many have worried about the future of our beloved Portra film. Some have evem started putting the nails in the coffin of film in general.

Be not affraid. From what I've read on the interwebs and personal correspondence with those who know at Kodak, we will have film for many years to come. Silver is still the medium of choice for much of Hollywood, so they will keep it alive if nothing else.

What can you do to help? Buy a roll and shoot it. Or, better yet, buy 10! Each roll makes a difference. Even if you have no intention of switching completely, you can still find joy in a little gold box.
