On a recent trip South, my wife, daughter and I stopped at a small hotdog spot near the Florida line. Lake Dogs in Lake Park, GA had yummy slaw dogs, but that wasn't the best part.

We were met at the door by a 4 year old little boy named Bentley. Without invitation, he sat with us and ordered his lunch along with ours. Apparently, his grandmother is the owner or something. He spent the next half hour asking about us and telling us about his likes and dislikes. It was very humorous. He followed us to the parking lot where I got a few quick portraits of him. He was sad to see us go.

I love that something as simple as a hot dog can be an event.

Lately, I've been thinking it might be helpful for me to explain why I take some of the images you see. When I saw this image, I knew I should.

The image below is of my daughter. I've posted many images of her because I'm constantly reminded of the miracle that she is. She is funnier, smarter, more beautiful, sillier, clumsier, everything really than I could have imagined. Each day something new happens.

There are also the things that are pretty much the same. The moment below is one of them. Any time we go somewhere, I strap her into her car seat and close the door. I see this. She looks at me before I walk around to the driver's side. It is a simple, sweet moment. She isn't dressed up. She isn't smiling. She is observinig.

There is nothing special about it, yet it is more special than anything. This image is far from perfect, but this moment is.

The Beans:

More than a year ago...I think, Kerinsa called to see if I'd be interested in partnering with her to offer an analog duo approach to wedding photography. I couldn't say yes quickly enough. She is an amazingly talented photographer (and a ginger) and working with someone like that makes me better. We've been creating our new logo and pricing and website and all kinds of unfun stuff for Deux Rouge. We've also gotten to shoot together in the mean time which has made it all worth while.

We are each maintaining our current businesses but, if you or someone you know is getting married in Colorado or Georgia or anywhere really and wants a one plus one equals three sort of thing, get in touch.
